New Champions To Be Crowned at USATF 10 Mile ChampionshipsPublished by
Professionals and Collegians to Clash on the Roads for USATF 10 Mile ChampionshipsBy Adam Kopet New champions will be crowned Sunday at the USATF 10 Mile Championships, hosted by Medtronic TC 10 Mile in Twin Cities, Minn. The two-time reigning champions, Shadrack Kipchirchir and Sara Hall, will not return in 2019 due to racing conflicts. Kipchirchir is slated to race the 10,000 meters at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships this week and Hall finished fifth at the Berlin Marathon last week. With the busy international schedule this week, it would be forgivable to forget about the penultimate 2019 USATF Running Circuit event. However, the USATF 10 Mile Championships will not be races to miss. The men's race features Scott Fauble who finished seventh at the Boston Marathon, running 2:09:09 at the top-American in the race. He will be joined by HOKA ONE ONE Northern Arizona Elite training partner Sid Vaughn Jr. Fauble was recently featured in the Humans of HOKA video series. Other athletes who could feature prominently in the race are Donn Cabral, Andrew Colley, MJ Erb, Martin Hehir, Augustus Maiyo, Connor McMillan, Connor Winter, Clayton Young, and Futsum Zienasellassie. The women's race features last year's sixth-place finisher Anne-Marie Blaney, along with her Hansons-Brooks Distance Project teammate Olivia Pratt. The pair finished first and fifth, respectively, two weeks ago at the Great Cow Harbor 10K on Long Island. The race also features Katy Jermann, last year's eighth-place finisher. Other women who could feature prominently in the race include Kaila Gibson, Molly Grabill, Rachel Johnson, Makena Morley, Grayson Murphy, Katie Newton, Nell Rojas and Bria Wetsch. Gibson and Morley are listed as representing Portland State and Colorado, respectively. They both have collegiate eligibility remaining. Update: Kellyn Taylor is a late addition to the field. She had been scheduled to race last week's Chicago Half Marathon, but she was unable to start. Taylor is preparing for the New York City Marathon.
